To grow a business using online platforms, guest blogging
was the most effective one. But back in the time, link building spammers
stuffed guest posts with keywords and back links. As a consequence, guest
blogging lost its charm and turned into a spammy practice.
Does that mean days of guest blogging have gone? Luckily the
answer is “NO”.
How? Below guidelines tells you how to make an effective guest blog post in the present scenario
of online marketing.
Don’t accept guest posts just to increase your inbound
traffic. Pick them because the content is actually relevant and beneficial for
readers.
Go through the below checklist before accepting any post from guest bloggers:
- Keep a record of authors to see if their content is relevant and are not just copy-pasting other people’s content on to yours.
- Double check the content and author bio for back links of spammy websites.
- Go for quality content not for quantity, something which is relevant to your users and satisfying to their infotainment need.
2. Watch out for the Outgoing Links
Keep an eye on every outgoing link from your guest blog
and don’t overdo them; total number of links could be 2-3 if your blogs length
is around 400-450 words. Also, make sure that those links are neither broken nor
irrelevant to your blog post as well as the readers you are targeting.
No matter where the link takes your readers – to the
author’s website or to your competitor, as long as it’s a quality link, they
will come and read your blog.
3. Do not
republish the guest blogs
Never ever republish the guest blog posts in your other
personal or corporate blogs. You will get penalized for plagiarism. However,
you can always freshen up the content if you have newer ideas / content on the
very same topic that your readers can benefit from. This step would also keep
the ‘freshness quotient’ of your site up.
4. Other guest
posting tips
- Don’t shoot mass mails requesting for guest posting. Conduct some research on the host blogger, his or her terms and conditions before sending any request.
- Do not accept offers from random authors to guest post on their blogs. Think before you act.
- Don’t allow links in the comment section of the blogs. It’s a spam practice.
Just remember one thing - make blogs a space for unique,
relevant and useful content for users with guest blogging. Use guest blogs as
content marketing and distribution platform to gain some genuine and organic
hits on the blogs, useful not just for your business but for others as well.
